Go For Broke
Mixed martial arts is one of my favorite sports in the whole world, next to basketball. In case you don’t know what it is, it is a combat sport where 2 fighters of the same weight class fight each other and win by either getting a knockout, submission, or getting a decision win on points from the 3 judges who score each round.
It’s truly a sport where anything can happen and a betting favorite can lose to the underdog because there are so many variables. One thing I enjoy the most when I watch it is when fighters have the “go for broke” mentality where they do everything they can to win instead of playing it safe and winning on points.
In my opinion, this is the type of mentality we need to have when it comes to our relationship with Christ. We should be giving God our all and not holding back. This means making every available effort to grow in Him. Some examples might be regularly going to church, setting aside time everyday to pray and read our bibles, serving at our local church as opportunities arise, and so on. Of course like any relationship this takes work and dedication but if we do this, we can expect our relationship with Him to be fulfilling and enjoyable beyond what we could imagine. This is because we will be able to feel His presence easier and discern His voice clearer as we transition from Christ being part of our life to being our life.
