“Pray about it.” If you’ve been a Christian for even a short time there is a good chance you’ve heard someone say this to you at one point or another. It’s a typical Christian platitude that has real value even though we hear it so often. When we don’t know what to do we pray and ask God for guidance and answers to our problems. With that being the case, have you ever asked yourself the following questions? “Why bother praying?” “What’s the point of praying?” Be honest. If we are all being honest it’s likely that most if not all of us have thought or said these questions during our walk with Christ. Usually we ask these questions to ourselves when we are discouraged from praying and haven’t seen an answer for an extended period of time or haven’t seen answers to multiple prayers we have prayed. Although it can be discouraging when either one of these 2 things happens, we need to stay planted in the word and focus on the fact that God does indeed hear and answer our prayers. We have to meditate on scriptures such as Mark 11:24 that tells us we have what we pray for if we believe it we have and Proverbs 11:29 which tells us God hears the prayers of the righteous. Of course we also need to remember a scripture such as 1 John 5:14 which says we can have confidence in our prayers when we pray according to God’s will. The key words there are God’s will. With all of this said let’s continue to stand on the promises of God and pray in faith to our Him knowing He hears and answers us even though it seems like at times He doesn’t or when things don’t go the way we expected them to go. It may be difficult but thank God we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us as we know from Philipians 4:13. This includes believing God to answer our prayers as we pray according to His will.
